Three years ago on October 18, 2018 my Mother was killed very tragically in a senseless, horrific car accident by a negligent and irresponsible driver. The pain of losing her was unbearable. We had come so far in our journey on earth, together and separately. I witnessed a lot of healing and growth in the both of us but of course we‘d still had many things to work through and talk about. For the most part I was finally at a place of peace in my relationship with my Mother. Mom was deeply damaged from her past and she was working so fiercely to be a well human being. Previous years before Mom’s death we’d had many bumps in the road; misunderstandings, communication break downs, etc.
In those last months, days and hours leading up to her death I’m thankful for the insight given by my Creator, to see my Mother through the eyes of Spirit, to hold her in a place of compassion and love her just the way she was, with no conditions.

I will always be eternally grateful that I was able to speak at length with her on that fateful day of her passing. She text messaged me at 2am that morning of October 18, she said Shelley are you awake? I woke from the bell sound of the text coming through. I answered her and said yes Mom, I’m awake are you okay? What’s going on? She went on to explain to me that she’d woke up and sat straight up in bed and felt as if the heavy burden of depression she’d been carrying for several months had been lifted right off of her. She explained to me that she was overwhelmed with a mysterious, invisible, warm sense of Gods love surrounding her. She was filled with joy and that brought immense joy to my own heart! I always worried about her so much. By 3am she told me that she was going to sign off and get some rest because she was meeting with friends for lunch later that day. These friends and this lunch date was extremely important to her because she explained to me that she needed to see them and make amends to them for some hurtful things she had said. I could tell that this meeting was deeply important to her. After we finished with our visit i fell back to sleep. I decided to call her by phone later that morning around 10am, I wanted to wish her a fantastic day and a good lunch date with her friends. It was so wonderful to hear her be excited and happy once again after many long months of sadness and depression.

Mom was bi-polar, a very difficult condition for one to live with and extremely challenging for others around her to endure at times. It was completely obvious that the Almighty had touched her soul to bring into the light. Who would have ever guessed what would come of the day and that in just a few short hours from our phone visit that she would leave her earthy body behind and be heaven bound. She posted on her Facebook page “Seize the Day” with an encouraging message for her followers and ran out the door to get to her luncheon. The friends she met with that day said that when they arrived home directly after spending time with Mom to their surprise they found hundreds of doves all across their property as they drove up to their home. They’d never seen anything like it. Mom had been killed immediately after they said their good byes at lunch, I truly believe it was a message from my Mother on that day when the doves came.

Lyrics

You never meant to leave that day
When love came calling beyond the veil
It was a day like any other day
When heaven took away your pain
And you traveled on
To the great beyond
On that day when the doves came.

The roses outside your window
Know the whisper of your name
And I'm falling like the velvet petals
My tears fall like the rain
And you traveled on
To the great beyond
On that day when the doves came.

You said Seize the Day
On that day when the doves came
You said the day won't wait
On that day when the doves came

A wounded child, a ravaged soul
Afraid to live, afraid to die
I loved you like a sister, a Mother and a friend
But you traveled on
To the great beyond
On that day when the doves came.

I hold your picture close to my heart
I can see more clearly then before
We walked among the ruins
Of the ghosts that kept your soul
But you traveled on
To sing heavens song
On that day when the doves came.

You said Seize the Day
On that day when the doves came
You said I'm on my way
On that day when the doves came.
